The Holmesburg Prison Experiments
Dr. Albert Kligman and Unethical Human Experimentation in America

Unethical Human Experimentation in Philly
“It was years before the authorities knew that I was conducting various studies on prisoner volunteers. Things were simpler then. Informed consent was unheard of. No one asked me what I was doing. It was a wonderful time.” ~ Dr. Albert Kligman
Dr. Albert Montgomery Kligman was an American dermatologist born in Philadelphia on March 17, 1916. He died on February 9, 2010, living to be 93 years old. This man’s name might not ring a bell, but he was one serious piece of work.

In the photo above, Dr. Albert M. Kligman looks like a smiling scientist while he sticks or slashes at a rabbit’s ear. This smiling guy in a lab coat looks like he can be Bill Nye the Science Guy, or some other science-oriented child educator on public television. I’m sure he had a façade in his life. Like most who would even argue support for genocide, he was a very friendly, approachable person. But there was something complete and utterly horrible behind this man.
