Black, as in a "Black person", is not just a personal identity, it's an ascribed identity. But a 5 year old isn't going to know college-level identity psychology and sociology.

Telling a young Black kid they ain't Black don't mean shit. The Police sees a Black kid regardless of how many crayons your kid pulls out (and will treat her or him like they do any random Black person.)
